The treatment can be initiated only if the person admits that he or she has a problem. Because in most cases, admitting that drinking is hurting your life is not easy for alcoholics.
Treatment for alcoholism may be inclusive of detoxification, counseling, medication and other treatment options. Personal circumstances and intensity of addiction determine the optimal treatment plan for an individual.
• Previous history of alcohol dependence
Detoxification treatment includes abstinence from alcohol within the control environment. Also, there is close monitoring of vital signs and withdrawal symptoms. During detox treatment edit my administered with benzodiazepines such as Valium, Librium, Ativan or Serax. Deciding which treatment method; Inpatient or Outpatient treatment is apt depends upon the severity of addiction. In the inpatient treatment, the patient has to stay with the facility whereas, with outpatient, the stay is in the patient's home during treatment. Inpatient facilities are more result-oriented, intensive and costly.
It is very necessary to evaluate the coverage in the health insurance plan to ascertain as to how much treatment costs would be covered insurance cover provider and how much cost would have to be borne in a personal capacity.
